New dog!

I finally got my own dog, and his name is David! He is a cocker spaniel mix, and has a loving personality. We rescued him from Life 4 Paws. He had a sister, Stella, that he had spent his WHOLE life with! Stella was adopted just weeks before we adopted David.

David has a collar with stitching's that look like magic cards! His leash is  a royal blue color that I adore.

David, of course, has a name tag. We got it from a machine in our local pet store. We got to choose the style (bone shape), and the style of text.

David is an amazing dog. He is very loyal, and loves me as much as I adore him.  He is attached to me, so much, that when I start running away, he follows. Also, David is VERY alert. When he hears the doorbell or the sound of my dad's keys to the house, he scurries to the door like a cheetah!

                                                             Do you have a pet?
If so, what is he/she like?

Some of my friends, or teacher, have pets too. Here are their links: Heather's Perfect Posts, Abbey's Articulate Artistry, Collin's Cool Collection, Parsa's Powerful Paragraphs Mrs. Yollis' 365, Sean's Super Stories.
                                                         Do you like their pets?

P.S. Did you notice I bolded all the subject pronouns? If you don't know what a subject pronoun is, one of my blogging buddies has a post about them. Here is the link: Peter's Plentiful Postings

  1. Dear Chloe,

My name is Wyatt, and I am Peter's little brother. Wow! That is a cute dog:-). If I had a dog, I would get a Golden Retriever! I would name him Wyatt Jr. If that is okay with Peter:-). I notice that David is a good poser. He looks like he is taking a photo for the The Daily Puppy.

    What is David's middle name?

    Warmly,

    Wyatt

Thank you for the great comment! Your a talented commenter.

To answer your question, David's middle name is Chubpuff. I made it up! What middle name do you think David should have?

      Sincerely,
      Chloe

  2. Dear Chloe,

I am getting a new dog too! My dog is a Havanese. As you know my dog is the same dog as Nate. His dog is Marco.

I also noticed that we have the exact same name tags for our dogs. I just changed the font on mine, and of course the name on my dog's tag is not David. It is Noe.

Anyway, can you figure out from the name of my dog where the Havanese comes from? If you can figure out where the Havanese comes from, can you guess why this type of dog might be suited for life in our Southern California climate?

    From,
    Darius

    1. Dear Darius,

That Havanese is going to be so exited! When are you going to get him?

The Havanese was named after the capital of Cuba called Havana. They are cute, in my opinion, and are known as toy dogs. Ancestors of this lively dog originally came from Spain, the Mediterranean, and Italy. The canines were brought by explorers in the 1500's. Do you know how wide and how heavy these pups are?

      Sincerely,

      Chloe

  3. Dear Chloe,

I have two dogs, and two goldfish. The goldfish are named Leo and Theo. My dogs are named Bogey and Birdie. They are Coton de Tulears. I like that royal blue bone that David has on the collar.

Did you get to choose that card pattern for the collar?

    Sincerely,

    Bryce

    1. Dear Bryce,

I have seen your dogs, and they're absolutely adorable! Are Coton de Tulears French?

I did choose the card pattern for David. There were also: Army Print, Star Wars print, Bones for girl dogs, and Minecraft prints.

I didn't know that you had goldfish, or that there names were Leo and Theo. As you know, we got a new French student named Theo. The first picture on Mrs. Yollis' post, " our new French student", is my garland. As you can see, Theo came to America in winter because the garland is made out of snowmen.

      Sincerely,

  4. Dear Chloe,

What an adorable dog David is! He is my second favorite dog! ;-)

The bone tag that you got at the local pet store is the same one we bought for Buck. I like how the letters are etched into it. How many more letters did you use for your dog than we used for Buck?

David sounds like a very bright dog. Can he do any tricks?

I love how you hyperlinked to other bloggers who have pet posts. You are a kind and generous person!

    1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you for the comment! Your words are so kind.

I'm amazed that Buck has the same tag style as David. What print does Buck have?

To answer your question, I used one more letter than you.

Thank you for saying David is a bright dog! He can do some tricks. He can sit, lie down, sometimes shake hands too. David adores the outdoors. I know that Buck, you, and Mr. Yollis treasure your time hiking. I could just imagine what it would be like.

Here is a story about how David and Buck met:

One day in Washington D.C., a young lab was hiking with his owners, Mr. and Mrs. Yollis. "Look!" insisted Mrs. Yollis as she read a sign stapled on a tree. "A lost dog! His name is David, and he is a white-tanish color, has a black collar, and is very friendly. If found, call the following number:" Mr. Yollis suddenly explained, " Don't worry, honey, it'll be all right." Mrs. Yollis nodded her head in agreement, and started to move on. Then Buck stopped, sniffed the air, and waited. "What's wrong Buckypoo?" Mr. Yollis questioned Buck in the voice only for Buck. "Honey, he smells something." Mrs. Yollis agreed. Then, out of the blue, a little dog came out of the bush Buck was staring at! He had white-tanish fur, a black collar, and a sweet look on his face. "David?" Mrs. Yollis asked with excitement. "Is it really you?" David proudly said, "Woof" "Woof!" Buck growled back. Mrs. Yollis tugged the leash. "No Buck!" Mrs. Yollis commanded. "Awwww.....You're so cute!"

      Can anyone finish my story?

      Sincerely,

      Chloe

What an important post for you to write about. I like how you included hyperlinks to other sites from your posts. I really, really enjoyed how you had the subject pronouns in your post. I knew that something was up and there was a reason that you had highlighted all the pronouns from the story... when I saw it the first time I thought that something was up, but I really thought that it was clever that you left it to the end to explain why they were highlighted.

We only have a cat here as a pet where we live in New Zealand. We went to the SPCA who look after abandoned animals in New Zealand and decided to get an adult cat. We have been lucky to have such a nice warm and loving animal, despite the fact that it was an abandoned animal.

David sounds like a fantastic dog and has obviously gone to a very loving home - hard to think that he isn't the best dog in the world, despite what Mrs Yollis says.

Are you looking to train him, looking to give him more tricks, would you think about giving him training or obedience lesson? Did your family have to pass a test to be able to adopt him? Did you have to have a fenced backyard or anything like that?

    1. Dear Mr Webb,

Your comment was spectacular! Thank you for using your time to write such a quality comment.

David is a fantastic dog. He is loving and gets my whole family exercising!

To answer your questions, David had a couple of training classes. I may want to teach David some new tricks, and David is a very protective dog, so we may want to put him in more training classes.

Is your cat an inside cat, or an outside cat? What does the SPCA stand for?

      Your new blogging buddy,

      Chloe (from Mrs. Yollis' class)

P.S. Did you notice that I didn't put a period after Mr? In my state, you're suppose to put a period, but since you're in New Zealand, and this is a reply to you, I wanted to follow your tradition.

  6. @Chloe,

As you might know, I have three pets that I most adore. First, I have a dog named Gracie. She is a hyper pup white fur as white as a marshmallow. In fact, Marshmallow is her middle name. Second, I have a cat named Pumpkin. He is an orange cat with a lazy personality. He lays down on my couch most of the day. Finally, I have a second cat named Crystal. She is a scardey-cat who doesn't like new visitors. She hides behind big objects to make herself hard to find. Clearly, I love pets and hope to get more soon.

    Does David have a hobby?

    1. Dear Shayna,

I have seen Gracie Marshmallow before, but not in person. Why is Gracie's middle name Marshmallow?

I know you love pets and are wiling to get more, that Pumpkin is over the bars on laziness, and that Crystal is a scaredy-cat. When did you get your two furry felines? When did you get Gracie? Did you rescue or adopt either, or both, of them?

      Sincerely,

  7. Dear Chloe,

Thank you for telling us about your dog, David. He is adorable and I bet he's cuddly and loving too. We had an Irish Setter. Her name was Kelly and she never understood that she wasn't a lap dog; she was a full grown b-i-g dog. Irish Setters weigh between 55 and 75 pounds. That's a lot of weight to land in your lap when she'd jump up and try to lick you and sit on you. She had a simple collar with her name on the leather band. She lived to be 14 years old and we miss her a lot, even today.

Another time, I will tell you about the 11 Siberian Huskies we had. Now those are big dogs. Would you like to hear about them?

Thanks also for the link to Life 4 Paws. I'd really like our next dog to come from a shelter.

    Fondly,

Thank you for your excellent comment! I can see you really put some effort into it.

Thank you for telling about Kelly! Please tell about those eleven Siberian huskies. Did you ever live in Alaska? When and where did you get Kelly and the huskies?

If you want a dog from Life4Paws, you're in luck. I saw many dogs there that were remarkable and that needed a loving home, but I felt that David and I had a special connection.

What did Kelly look like? How did you find her? Did you get her when she was a puppy?

      Sincerely,

      Chloe

  8. Dear Chloe,

Thanks for your quick response. You really made me feel welcome on your blog. That's so important. It made me want to come back and comment again.

As I said, Kelly was an Irish Setter with long red hair. We got her from a pet store in New York when Papa Steve and I were first married. She was so beautiful, but definitely not a dog for an apartment. We used to take her on long walks, so she would get enough exercise. Then one day Steve and I both had the flu. Steve had a temperature of 103 degrees. Mine was 102. I got to walk Kelly, because my temperature was lower!!!! It was great when we moved into a house with a big back yard. She could run all over and we could stay inside, which was wonderful when there was snow on the ground.

As for our Siberian Huskies, that's quite a story. Two young boys came to live with us for awhile. They had two Siberian Huskies, so we told them that they could come too. Well, the female Siberian ended up having 9 puppies! They were all beautiful, but boy was that a lot of work! They all ended up in good homes and we ended up with Kelly! Did you know that many Siberians have one brown eye and one blue?

In answer to your question, "No, we never lived in Alaska." Sometimes New York felt like Alaska in the winter, but we never lived there. We have visited Alaska. We took a cruise there with Sloane, Evan, Bryce and Hunter two years ago. It's beautiful countryside and not cold in the summer at all. Have you been there?

Once again, thanks for the information about Life4Paws. Do you think you'll get more than one pet? Remember, it's lots of work, but worth every drop of it.

    Sincerely,

    Gaga aka Bryce's Grandma

    1. Dear Gaga,

Wow! Your writing really wowed me!

Why did the boys come to stay with you? What made you say yes?

No, I don't think I want to get another pet. Besides, my dad would NEVER let me have another pet! It took me many years to even convince him to get a dog!

No, I did not now that Siberian huskies had one brown eye and one blue eye. That is a fascinating fact to know! Thank you for sharing it!

Whatever happened to the mother husky and father husky? Do you think that your Siberian huskies would recognize them if they saw them again? How long did you have the pups? Did you name each one?

      Sincerely,

      Chloe

    2. Dear Chloe,

Rob and I are so happy to have David as a new neighbor! He is a very polite dog and does not bark loudly when neighbors are trying to sleep. He is also a cutie!

When our dog Princess was around three years old, we adopted her from a rescue organization (Recycled Pets). That was more than 13 years ago, so Princess is now a senior dog. Sara named her Princess because she was very ladylike. Princess's middle name is Muffin.

Princess also has a bone-shaped ID tag, a very popular shape for dogs!

      Regards,

Do you ever walk your dogs together? Have a great day!

No, Princess and David don't walk together, but when Rob comes home from a walk with Princess, David and she smell each other. I think they're friends!

Do you walk Bryce's dog? Do you want to adopt a dog?

  9. Hi Chloe,

I enjoyed seeing you, Eli, and David flying your kite this morning. You looked like you were having so much fun! I saw Eli's new guitar. I'll bet he will have his own band soon. I am setting up my own blog but I'm not very good at it. Maybe you can help me with it sometime since you are obviously an expert. See you soon! Rob

Thank you for the fabulous comment! Elie, David, and I had lots of fun flying our kite yesterday!

When did you see Elie's new guitar? Did you ever play the guitar or any other instrument?

Princess is a very nice dog. I enjoy seeing her when you come home from a walk. Are you the one who always walks Princess? Do you like to walk to get fresh air and exercise?

I would love to help you start your new blog! What inspired you to want to start one? Please email or call my mom to plan a date.

    2. Hi Chloe,

I saw Elie's new guitar on Wednesday or Thursday. It sounds cool. I apologize for misspelling Elie's name.

I played the accordion when I was in my teens. Have you ever seen an accordion? Hardly anyone plays it anymore but my father was an expert accordion player.

I usually walk Princess but sometimes Linda walks her. I do walk to get exercise. I am going on a 200-mile backpack in England with my friend Joe next month so I am walking a lot to get in shape. I have now set up my blog for the trip. If you would like me to, I will put you on my list to receive my blog.

      Take care.

      Your neighbor,

      Rob

  10. Dear Chloe,

It's working. More and more people are becoming interested in adopting rescue dogs! This morning Jennifer Levinson posted pictures on Facebook of 3 dogs who need to be adopted. They were part of two litters totaling 11 dogs. The best part is that there were more responses than you can imagine. Jennifer has a following of over 3,000 because of her renowned Jen's list. You can ask your Mom to show you the post, because she is a friend of Jen's too.

You speak up for what's right, too, Chloe. That's a wonderful part of you. Do you know anyone who might like one of these puppies?

    1. Dear Gaga,

Once again, your kind words make me want to read your comments. You have been leaving a lot of comments! I think you're going to get the honor of being named best replier. That is part of April is Family Blogging Month.

I told Bryce that you were leaving some amazing comments, and he was glad! But, what I like about you is that you always leave number two comments. A number two comment is a comment that has: correct punctuation, high level vocabulary, correctly spelled words, questions, and compound sentences. Sometimes, even facts. You have gone over the number two comment limit. I think you should get a number three comment! For touching and beautifully written comments!

I do know someone who might want a puppy. My grandma! My aunt wants to get my grandma a puppy, and my mom's dad is thinking about it! What will you think she will say?

I saw the photo of the puppy. Rescuing is so important. When I met David I also met a lot of other dogs in need of a loving home. I really wished that I would be able to do more for the others. I still visit them sometimes. And, the woman who goes with them calls me the dog whisperer. She first gave me that name when David went on a walk with me because, she said, he was too scared to walk with anyone else other than her until then. He was shaking in the crate. When I heard of his story, I told my mom that I chose him because he had a tough life and I wanted to change that.

Did you ever dog-sit for Bryce's puppies?

      Sincerely,

      Chloe
